LEXINGTON FALLS AT ROCK RIVER, 70-47ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Lexington Horsemen dropped their second consecutive game with a 70-47 loss to Rock River Saturday in the MetroCentre in Rockford, Ill. With the win, the Raptors take the season series, as Rock River has claimed two of the three regular-season meetings between the two teams. The Horsemen (7-7) were led by running back Rayshawn Askew, who scored four touchdowns in the game, including three scores on the ground. Lexington is still alive in the United Indoor Football playoff picture as the Horsemen are battling for the No. 3 seed in the UIF Eastern Conference. Askew rushed 17 times for 67 yards, while quarterback Kewan Dewberry rushed five times for 29 yards with a score. Dewberry completed 17-of-37 passes for 164 yards with two scoring strikes and an interception in the game. “I thought in the first half tonight we came out and played pretty well,” Horsemen head coach Mike Zuckerman said. “In the second half, we just stopped executing a little bit and gave up some easy touchdowns. We couldn’t get any touchdowns on the board to compensate for that. We have struggled all year long in putting four quarters together.” The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 4-4. The Raptors were located in Huntsville, Ala., and known as the Tennessee Valley Raptors prior to their move to the suburban Chicago location. The Horsemen have a bye week before returning home to play host to Ohio Valley in the regular-season finale on July 14. Kick-off in Rupp Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT and the game will be carried live on 101.5 FM The Planet and WVLK 590 AM with Randy Wilson.
