LEXINGTON HORSEMEN GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK WITH 40-34 WINLEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington quarterback Kewan Dewberry returned to form Saturday, going 17-of-21 for 179 yards with three touchdown passes, and the Horsemen snapped a two-game losing streak with a 40-34 win against Bloomington in Rupp Arena. The Horsemen (6-5) broke to a 28-14 advantage at intermission and relied heavily on the trusty leg of kicker Collin Barber, who made both of his second-half field goal attempts and went 4-of-4 on PAT kicks in the game. The Horsemen moved into sole possession of third place in the United Indoor Football Eastern Conference with the win. Running back Rayshawn Askew carried the ball 22 times in the game with two touchdowns to lead Lexington past Bloomington (5-5). Wide receiver Harry Lewis caught seven passes for 96 yards, including an impressive 49-yard touchdown reception. The Horsemen jumped on the board first as Askew scored on a 1-yard plunge to give Lexington a 7-0 advantage with 12:49 remaining in the opening period. Bloomington responded as Reggie Gray caught a 16-yard pass for touchdown from signal-caller Dusty Burk to knot the score at 7. Askew found the end-zone for the second time on a 2-yard run with 6:17 left in the first quarter to move the Horsemen ahead 14-7. Neither team was able to muster much offense for the early part of the second quarter until Dewberry found receiver Jarrod Rouanzoin from 8 yards out to give the Horsemen a 21-7 advantage with 6:51 remaining until halftime. Bloomington’s James Walton caught a 31-yard pass from Burk to bring the Extreme within seven, 21-14, with 4:03 left in the second period. Lexington widened its margin back out to 28-14 with 44 seconds left in the half as JaQuar Sanders hauled in a 14-yard pass from Dewberry. Out of intermission, the Extreme quickly cut the Horsemen advantage to four, 28-24, after a 40-yard field goal by Peter Christofilakos and a fumble recovery for touchdown by Eric Powell on the ensuing possession. Barber connected on a 17-yard field goal for Lexington to widen its margin to 31-24 with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter. Lewis then had an impressive catch on a 49-yard pass from Dewberry with 1:31 left in the third to put the Horsemen ahead 37-24. Burk called his own number just seconds into the fourth quarter from 5 yards out to bring Bloomington within six, 37-31, but Barber answered with a 28-yard field goal with 10:13 remaining in the game. Christofilakos connected on a 20-yard field goal with 3:17 remaining, but the Horsemen defense held on for the final 40-34 margin.
